I have to agree with myself on this one, you see: based upon the statements of all major scientific bodies in the United States and worldwide whose research bears directly on the issue of climate change, it is clear the scientific community has reached the consensus that climate change is real and has human causes.

The National Academies of Sciences stated in 2001 that “[g]reenhouse gases are accumulating in Earth’s atmosphere as a result of human activities, causing surface air temperatures and subsurface ocean temperatures to rise.”

The American Geophysical Union stated in 2003 that “[h]uman activities are increasingly altering the Earth’s climate.”

The American Association for the Advancement of Science issued a message in 2006 stating “Climate change is real, humans are responsible for a substantial part of it, [and] it’s taking us in dangerous directions.”

The American Meteorological Society stated in 2003 that “human activities are contributing to climate change, we have a collective responsibility to develop and undertake carefully considered response actions.”

The Joint Science Academies, (representing the National Science Academies of the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, Italy, India, Germany, France, China, Canada, and Brazil) issued a statement to the G8 in 2005 warning “human activities are now causing atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gasses … to rise well above pre-industrial levels… Increasing greenhouse gases are causing temperatures to rise … The scientific understanding of climate change is now sufficiently clear to justify nations taking prompt action … to reduce the causes of climate change, adapt to its impacts and ensure that the issue is included in all relevant national and international strategies.”

Just for the record,

Art, I'm sure you thought you had a friend in Al Gore, but you were wrong--terribly, terribly wrong.
